        A five-domed church of 1711 in the former Soldiers' Quarter — the regimental church of Peter's soldiers, never closed in Soviet times.

        • In 1696, on the initiative of Franz Lefort, a wooden church was built here for the soldiers of the 1st Moscow Regiment.
        • The current stone church was built in 1711.
        • The church was never closed in Soviet times, and even the bells survived.
        • A chapel at the Vvedenskoye Cemetery, in the former Erlanger mausoleum, is attached to it.

        🏛 Normandie-Niemen Pilots Monument
        Краснокурсантская пл., у 1-го Краснокурсантского пр.
        A bronze composition honouring the regiment in which French pilots fought on the Soviet front.
        10 minutes southwest along Lefortovsky Val and 1st Krasnokursantsky Proyezd. The monument stands on the square by the passage.

        Normandie-Niemen Pilots Monument

        • The monument was unveiled on 10 October 2007; the sculptor is A. N. Kovalchuk.
        • The French squadron Normandie was formed in December 1942 in Ivanovo.
        • The regiment fought on the Soviet-German front from 1943 to 1945: over 5,000 combat sorties and about 900 air battles.

        🏛 Monument to Ataman Platov at the Lefortovo Barracks

        A bronze Ataman Platov with his Don horse on a mound in Cossack Glory Square, next to the 19th-century Red Barracks.
        Two minutes away is Cossack Glory Square with a burial mound and a statue. Beyond it, along Krasnokazarmennaya, are the Lefortovo barracks.

        • The monument was unveiled in 2013; the sculptor is K. R. Chernyavsky.
        • Platov stands bareheaded — shako in one hand, the other on his heart.
        • The Lefortovo Barracks were built in the late 1830s; until 1917 they housed the 3rd Moscow Cadet Corps.
        • Today the barracks house the Preobrazhensky Regiment.
