        • The museum was founded in 1896 by the City Duma as the Museum of Municipal Services and was first housed in the Krestovsky water towers.
        • From 1926 the museum worked in the Sukharev Tower, until it was demolished in 1935.
        • The warehouses were built in 1835; they were long attributed to Gilardi, but it turned out they were built by Vasily Stasov and Fyodor Shestakov.
        • From the 1930s the Provision Warehouses were the General Staff's motor pool, and only in 2009 were they given to the museum.
        • About 800,000 exhibits were moved when the museum relocated to Zubovsky Boulevard.
        • The oldest finds in the archaeological collection are 20,000–25,000 years old.
        • The collection includes a lifetime portrait of Peter I by the Dutchman Nicolaas Verkolje, 1717.

        • The name comes from the Ostozhye tract: haystacks used to be stacked on the river's flood meadows.
        • From 1935 to 1986 the street was called Metrostroyevskaya: the first metro line was built under it by the cut-and-cover method.
        • In 1986 Ostozhenka was the first Moscow street to get its historic name back.
        • No. 37 was the home of Ivan Turgenev's mother, where the story "Mumu" is set; since 2009 the house has held the writer's museum.
        • Mansion no. 21 looks like a medieval castle in miniature: Lev Kekushev built it for his own family in 1900–1903.
        • The corner turret of no. 3/14 was nicknamed "the wineglass" because it looks like an upside-down glass.
        • No. 41 (1925–1928) was the first multi-story residential building in the USSR with monolithic reinforced-concrete structures.

        • They make more than ten kinds of khinkali, including truffle and kosher ones, which are shaped at a separate station.
        • The wine list has about 50 items with an emphasis on Georgian qvevri wines, and more than 40 are poured by the glass.
        • The interior was done by the Georgian studio Rooms: the "grenade" chairs and tables were hewn with an axe from solid wood by Georgian craftsmen.
        • The chain belongs to LL Group, which has five such khinkali houses in Moscow.

        • No. 29 is the "Russian-style" mansion of the collector Ivan Tsvetkov, built in 1901 to sketches by Viktor Vasnetsov; in 1909 Tsvetkov gave it to the city along with his collection.
        • No. 11 is the former Ermakov Electrotechnical School of 1904: the first building in Moscow built on reinforced-concrete piles.
        • The bank building at No. 9 (1995, architects Alexander Skokan and colleagues) won the State Prize of Russia.
        • On the corner with Soymonovsky Proyezd stands the fairy-tale Pertsova apartment building, designed by the artist Sergei Malyutin; its basement housed the Letuchaya Mysh (Bat) cabaret in 1908–1910.
        • The pedestrian Patriarshy Bridge spans the embankment, leading from the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour to Bolotny Island.

        • The idea of a cathedral-monument to the victory over Napoleon was put forward in December 1812 by General Pyotr Kikin.
        • The first cathedral was laid down in 1817 on the Sparrow Hills to a design by Karl Witberg, but construction was halted and Witberg was exiled to Vyatka.
        • The cathedral on Volkhonka was built to Konstantin Thon's design until 1860, and consecrated only in 1883 under Alexander III.
        • The names of officers killed in the war of 1812 and the foreign campaigns are inscribed on the cathedral's walls.
        • On 5 December 1931 the cathedral was blown up to make way for the Palace of Soviets, which was never built; the Moskva swimming pool was made on the site instead.
        • The current building was recreated in 1994–1999 on the old plinth, but from different materials.
