🏛 Monument to the Defenders of Moscow's Sky

      Большая Юшуньская ул.

A monument to the crew of an SB-2 bomber that crashed in October 1941: the plane was found 27 years later, while a cable was being laid in a courtyard.

      • Unveiled on 1 October 1971 by the former School No. 629.
      • On 12 October 1941 a damaged SB-2 fell on Chertanovo airfield; the crew was killed.
      • In 1968 an excavator in a courtyard on Kirovogradskaya Street turned up the plane's skin with a red star.
      • The pilots' names were established from engine and propeller numbers by pathfinder schoolchildren.
