🖼 Peter the Great's Cabin in Kolomenskoye

      просп. Андропова, 39, стр. 12

A log "Peter the Great's cabin" moved to Kolomenskoye from Arkhangelsk in 1934; research suggests it is a reconstruction from the remains of a 1709–1710 palace, and the 1702 rooms have not survived. Inside is period furnishing from Peter's time.

      • By the traditional account, the cabin was built in 1702 on Markov Island near Arkhangelsk, and Peter lived in it for about two and a half months.
      • In 1710 it was damaged by ice floes, in 1877 the house was moved to Arkhangelsk, and in 1934 to Kolomenskoye.
      • The historian I. M. Gostev found that the 1702 rooms have not survived: what stands in Kolomenskoye is a reconstruction from the remains of a 1709–1710 palace that Peter never visited.
      • Kolomenskoye also has a model of Peter's Dutch cabin in Zaandam, a gift from the Netherlands for the 2013 cross-year.
