      🖼 Paustovsky Literary Museum Center

      Кузьминская ул., 8 (парк Кузьминки)

An 18th-century wooden house in the Kuzminki estate; the exhibition is laid out as the writer's journey: city, sea, forest, world and home.

      • The museum opened on 22 November 1975 as a public museum, on the initiative of the literature teacher Zoya Kvitko.
      • Since 1987 the museum has occupied the Gardener's House of the Golitsyn Kuzminki estate.
      • The house was presumably built in 1797; it was nicknamed the "Gray Dacha" when it was rented out to summer residents.
      • In the 1970s the house burned down and was rebuilt in the 1980s.
      • The collection has more than 20,000 items, including a postcard that Ivan Bunin sent to Paustovsky.
      • Since 2015 the museum has also owned Paustovsky's house in Tarusa.
