      🚶 Nagatinskaya Embankment

Нагатинская наб., от Нагатинского моста до Судостроительной ул.

      • This is Moscow's longest embankment — about 5.6 km, from Danilovsky Bridge to Sudostroitelnaya Street.
      • It is named after the village of Nagatino, which became part of Moscow in 1960.
      • Where the word "Nagatino" comes from is not known for sure; one version is "na gati", meaning a marshy spot reinforced with logs.
      • The development was conceived in 1972 as an ensemble of "sail" buildings of 10 to 25 storeys with 35-storey accent towers; the chief architect was R. P. Aldonina.
      • The towers were never built: the eastern edge was filled with standard 22-storey blocks.
      • In 2025 the pavements were widened, new lamps were installed and overhead lines were put underground.
