      • In 1882, on commission from the merchant Georgy Lianozov, Mikhail Chichagov converted an old mansion into a theater.
      • Above the entrance is Anna Golubkina's bas-relief "The Swimmer"; the curtain sketches and the emblem were also drawn by Shekhtel.
      • The first "Seagull" badges were given to the actors by Chekhov himself in 1901.
      • Since 1908 everyone who has served 10 years at the MKhT receives a "Seagull" pin.
      • In 1987 the MKhAT split into two theaters: the Gorky one on Tverskoy and the Chekhov one in Kamergersky.
      • The monument to Chekhov opposite the theater, by Mikhail Anikushin, was put up for the MKhT's 100th anniversary.
      • In 2024 the Bank of Russia issued a silver coin for the theater's 125th anniversary with the curtain and the seagull.
