      🏛 Hermitage Pavilion in Kuskovo

ул. Юности, 2, стр. 13 (усадьба Кусково)

An elegant two-story Baroque pavilion of the 1760s, where the alleys of the French park converge like rays.

      • The pavilion was built in 1765–1767 under the supervision of the Moscow architect Karl Blank.
      • Guests were hoisted to the second floor by a mechanism, and food was served on a lifting table so that no servants were needed.
      • Only three such "hermitages" survive in Russia: in Peterhof, Tsarskoye Selo and Kuskovo.
      • Under the cornice, alabaster busts of Roman caesars stand in niches.
      • Since 2013 the pavilion has hosted exhibitions of the Ceramics Museum.
