      🏛 Izmailovo Manufactory

      3-я Парковая ул., 41А

Red-brick buildings of a 19th-century cotton-spinning mill — industrial Izmailovo, which grew out of a cloth workshop.

      • The first workshop of the cloth works was laid down in the 1830s on a stream flowing into Serebryano-Vinogradny Pond.
      • The first three-storey brick building was put up in 1847 by the owner, a man named Mertvago.
      • In the 1850s the Englishman Rodion Hill took over the factory: he ordered a steam engine from England and brought the number of looms to 435.
      • Barracks, a hospital, baths and shops were built for the workers.
