      🏛 Igumnov House

A gingerbread terem with tiles and tented roofs — the house of the Yaroslavl merchant Igumnov, today the residence of the French ambassador.

      • The mansion was built in 1895 to a design by the Yaroslavl architect Nikolai Pozdeev.
      • The brick was ordered from Holland, and the coloured tiles were made by the Kuznetsov porcelain factory.
      • In the 1920s the USSR's first Blood Transfusion Institute opened here.
      • Since 1979 the house has been the residence of the French ambassador; the facade restoration was finished in 2014.
