      🏛 Empress Elizabeth's Country Palace

      A single-storey palace on the bank of the former Rybinka river, where Tsesarevna Elizabeth lived under Anna Ioannovna; now it houses a restoration institute.

      • Elizabeth Petrovna lived here during the reign of Anna Ioannovna.
      • After a fire in 1737, a new palace was built in 1739; it is linked with the name of Rastrelli.
      • From 1872 the building was occupied by the Pokrovsky Community of Sisters of Mercy.
      • The pond in front of the palace was filled in in 1980, when Gastello Street was laid.
      • Today it houses the State Research Institute of Restoration.
