A platform above the confluence of the Desna and Pakhra next to the Golitsyn manor house.

On the cape at the confluence of the Desna and Pakhra, archaeologists found a Neolithic site and an early Iron Age settlement, the Dubrovitsy settlement.
Catherine II bought the estate from Potemkin and gave it to her favourite Alexander Dmitriev-Mamonov.
His son Matvey Dmitriev-Mamonov rebuilt the baroque palace in the classical style and founded the secret “Order of Russian Knights” here.
In 1999–2004 many trees that blocked the view of the main house were cut down at the estate, which opened up today's view.
