🏛 Wooden Church of the Transfiguration in Bogorodskoye

      Краснобогатырская ул., 17

The only surviving wooden church of the 19th century in Moscow: a tent roof, carved window frames, galleries around the log frame.

      • The church was built for the summer residents of Bogorodskoye and consecrated on 17 August 1880; the design was by the architect N. A. Ipatyev.
      • In 1897-1898 wooden side chapels were added and the log frame was surrounded by a gallery.
      • The church was not closed in Soviet times; Patriarch Tikhon served here twice — in 1922 and 1924.
      • The church survived fires in 1954 and 2002; after the first, the iconostasis was brought from Peredelkino.
