        • The pedestrian embankment stretches about a kilometre and a half, from the Kremlin walls to the National Library.
        • Along it there are cafés, fountains, sculptures and a pier.
        • Little tourist road trains in the shape of steam engines run along the promenade.
        • In winter a skating rink almost a kilometre long is flooded here, one of the longest in Russia.

A lavish 2010 palace with a bronze tree in its arch; it houses the Tatarstan Ministry of Agriculture, so you look at it from outside.
Show your child the bronze tree in the arch; it is as tall as a six-storey building. You can't go inside, so look from the square.

        • The spire rises 48 metres.
        • Inside is the Tatarstan Ministry of Agriculture and Food.
        • Since 2011, on 30 August, a free gala concert of the Kazan Autumn opera festival has been held at the palace.
