        • The garden opened to visitors in 1834, when the greenhouse was built.
        • The zoo opened on 8 November 1925 in the courtyard of the Central Museum, and in 1931 it was merged with the botanical garden.
        • Reconstruction began in 2015, and a 7-hectare "Zambezi River" section appeared.
        • Since 1996 the zoo and botanical garden has been a member of the European Association of Zoos and Aquaria (EAZA).

        • The facade of triangular glass-and-aluminium panels is inspired by the "ice flowers" of the frozen Kaban.
        • The theatre has 1,300 seats in all; the round Eastern Hall looks out over the lake.
        • The first performance on the main stage, on 26 March 2025, was traditionally Karim Tinchurin's The Blue Shawl.
        • The restaurant in the building is called Sayyar, after the first Tatar troupe, in which Abdulla Kariev acted from 1907.
