      • The present gate was founded on 30 August 1843 in the presence of King Frederick William IV and completed in 1850.
      • The niches hold high reliefs of King Ottokar II of Bohemia, King Frederick I of Prussia and Duke Albrecht.
      • After the war the sculptures had their heads knocked off, and locals nicknamed them “the three headless kings”.
      • The gate was restored for Kaliningrad’s 750th anniversary in 2005; inside is an exhibition about Peter the Great’s Grand Embassy.
      • The name comes from Königstrasse, along which the Prussian kings rode from the castle to review the troops.
