        • The gate was built in 1852–1855; the Berlin architect August Stüler reworked the façade in Gothic forms.
        • The gate has a single passage five metres wide, with three casemates on each side.
        • After the war the gate was restored to house the Solnechny Kamen café-restaurant.

        🎟 ticket
A museum in a round fort tower on the Upper Lake: Baltic amber, inclusions and amber work from ancient times to the present.

        • The museum is in the Dohna Tower — a round fortification of 1853, 34 metres across, on the shore of the Upper Lake.
        • The first part of the museum opened on 29 December 1979.
        • Nearby, in the village of Yantarny, is the largest known amber deposit, with more than 90% of the world’s reserves.
        • The tower was named after the Prussian field marshal Friedrich Karl zu Dohna.
        • In April 1945 the tower was a German strongpoint — it was taken during the storming of Königsberg.
