      🏛 1st Five-Year Plan Square

      The grand square of Uralmash in front of the factory gates: the factory management building, the Madrid Hotel and the three radiating streets of the socialist town.

      • The square was built up in 1928–1935 to a design by the Uralmash architect Pyotr Oransky.
      • Kultury Boulevard, Prospekt Ordzhonikidze and Ilyicha Street radiate from it.
      • The first to be built were the factory gatehouses (1930) and the apartment buildings at Ilyicha, 2 and Kultury Boulevard, 2.
      • The 1933 Madrid Hotel combines Constructivism and Classicism.
